Challenge
Giving Auditors More Control Over Financial Data Collection
The client — a consulting firm — needed a more efficient way to gather financial data from accountants across engagements. The existing process made it difficult to control what information was requested, leading to submissions that included irrelevant data and added time to the review process.
Auditors needed a tool that gave them direct control over what was collected, so that incoming data arrived in a format already aligned with what the audit required — reducing the effort needed to filter and prepare it for review.
Solution
Building a Structured and Collaborative Audit Request Workflow
Alverden built an application that puts auditors in control of the data collection process. Auditors create forms that specify exactly what financial information is needed for a given engagement. Those forms are sent to accountants, who complete and return them through the same system.
The workflow is shared: all parties involved in an audit can view the relevant forms and contribute updates within the same interface. There is no need to exchange documents externally or reconcile different versions held by different teams.
Every edit to a form is recorded as a version, so the full history of any document is available at any point. Teams can roll back to a previous state if needed, which preserves the integrity of audit documentation and reduces the risk of data being lost or overwritten accidentally.

Auditor-Controlled Form Design
Auditors define exactly what financial data is required for a given engagement, building forms tailored to the scope of each audit. This removes the need to sift through irrelevant information later in the review process.

Accountants complete and return forms within the same application, and all concerned parties can view and contribute to the same document. This keeps the audit request and response in one traceable place.
Version History and Rollback
Every change made to a form is saved as a discrete version. Teams can review the history of any document and roll back to an earlier state, supporting traceability and protecting against accidental data loss.
Standardised Audit Data Collection
The form-driven workflow can be applied consistently across different client engagements. Auditors work from the same process regardless of client, reducing variation and making audits easier to manage at scale.
